The Cystic Fibrosis Center of Chicago adheres to the strictest standards of infection control. Our procedures far exceed accreditation standards set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and The Department of Public Health.
Unlike hospital-based clinics and CF programs which treat large numbers of patients concurrently and often have extended waiting times, The Cystic Fibrosis Center of Chicago staggers appointment times so that those with CF are not in the common office area at the same time. This strategy has significantly minimized the risk of cross infection.
All exam rooms and medical devices are disinfected after each patient visit. All clinical staff adhere to a strict CF infection policy when interacting with patients. All staff wash their hands before and after each patient visit with an antibacterial soap and/or utilize an alcohol-based disinfectant.
With the ever increasing public concern over hospital and community acquired infection (such as MRSA), The Cystic Fibrosis Center of Chicago is taking the lead in finding new ways to significantly minimize the risk of infection.
